We’re so excited to share the newly launched June & Jae website. Working with photographer, Quyen, on her new branding was an absolute joy and the result is something we are very proud of here at MaeMae. Stay tuned for a more detailed post showing the full depth of the redesign, but for now head over to juneandjae.com to check out Quyen’s beautiful photography.

P.S. Calling all Colorado ladies—June & Jae will be in your area with photo session availability at the end of August. Lucky you!

Our friends over at Minnesota Bride recently featured a hyper-custom suite we designed for a couple marrying at the famed Smog Shoppe venue in LA. Industrial, clever and totally fun—this custom suite was as exciting to design as it was for guests to find in their mailbox. At the couple’s request, we took a cue from their super cool venue, combining layers upon layers of texture (think custom kraft wrapping paper, charcoal letterpress, a three-dimensional box holding an etched metal invitation, die-cut stickers, stamp overlays) with a clean, muted palette and pops of playful, bright red. Chris and Amber are such a fun couple and we made sure their personalities shined through the playful wording and text. The overall result—a wedding suite that’s slightly outside the box (ba-dum-bum!) and totally in-line with the couple’s awesome celebration.

We’re excited to be working with a new branding client and lovely wedding photographer. Her direction is fresh and cool and weighted in old-world elegance. It’s soothing and invigorating at the same time.

Isn’t that floral wallpaper amazing!? We are really excited about some floral and French Chinoiserie designs we are working on for the new wedding collection.

Working with photographer, Christin Olive was such a treat. She is one of the kindest and most genuine clients I have ever partnered with, and on top of that an amazing artist. Christin shoots in film and was looking for branding that would couple well with her soft and dreamy style. Being that she has such an awesome married name (and yes, we got to do her wedding invitations!!) using olive imagery only seemed natural. One of my favorite aspects of her finished branding system is the mix and matching of the key elements (pattern, script and color) on the different collateral pieces. Her custom patterned wrapping paper for her packaging system in three color ways makes me want to have our own wrapping paper for packages!!! So fun!

Her site will be launching soon, but in the meantime check out her beautiful work on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks so much for working with me, Christin!!

Collaborating with Brianna, Buzz, and the fab BEAU AND ARROW ladies was such a treat. We started with the MAXIMUS SUITE we created for Martha Stewart Weddings and then added in some personalized details. The theme for B&B’s wedding was Wes Anderson in the Desert Wearing Missoni. I mean. Enough said. (check instagram for Beau and Arrow’s hashtags on that…) For the save the date we created a BACK TO SCHOOL VIBE and then carried some of those illustrations into their suite. (see a full photo of the save the date in THIS POST) All of the guest envelopes were addressed with a typewriter to keep it authentic throw back.

We also made these AMAZING HOTEL KEYS FOR ESCORT CARDS in a variety of colors (see more COLORS HERE). All of the SIGNAGE was displayed at the wedding in these amazing layered frames over marbled paper. All of the guests were treated in their hotel rooms to these custom wrapped Mast Bro chocolate bars. It was very difficult to make it through the WRAPPING PROCESS without digging into them… To stay cool at the Palm Springs celebration the programs were made into handy little fans.

Thank you, Buzz and Brianna, for being the coolest clients. Wishing you both lots of love!!

As I am sure you have noted throughout the six year history of MaeMae we have founded our design style on the nontraditional. This past year I have been so intrigued by how to make classic and traditional wedding stationery with the “MaeMae Flair” and found working with Fran (mother of the bride) and Bridget (bride) such a refreshing entry into this world.

Bridget is from Rochester, MN and is marrying Andrew in beautiful Park City, Utah. My favorite element from this suite is the folded map. I love showing the guests all of the unique things that will be surrounding them as they visit a new place. My husband is from Salt Lake and so I’ve also enjoyed the gorgeous surrounds of Park City and can’t wait to see Bridget and Andrew’s photos!!

Just a few months back, the MaeMae team moved out of Megan’s downtown Minneapolis apartment into a new studio just a few blocks away. Since then we’ve had fun sharing the decorating progress (as you can see here, here and here), and are now thrilled to be able to show off the new space in it’s entirety thanks to the recent issue of Mpls St Paul Magazine! Check out the article for more photos (AND for bonus shots of Megan’s apartment – seriously so good).

Thanks Mpls St Paul Magazine (and Wing Ta for the photos)!

Lori and I just finished up some new designs for one of our fav clients who is a witty writer and tasteful curator. We recently starting implementing a new delivery method for proofs. We wanted to make sure we were there (whether physical here in the studio or via Skype/phone) to walk our client through the designs to give explanations about decisions made and field any initial questions. This helps us get to the good and relevant edits so much faster and builds such a stronger relationship between us and our clients. Looking forward to our first meeting tomorrow to show off these new ideas!

See the last Mood + Method board here and keep up with us on the ‘gram here!

xx, Mae

Oswald is our modern gentleman and we love seeing him decked out in yellow and grey. Melissa and Jon ordered their stationery suite through one of our favorite (and for the record, first :) retailers, Urbanic, in Venice, CA. (did you see Lehua’s gorgeous photos from the trunk show we had there!?) You can see more photos of their fun wedding here on Green Wedding Shoes.
In honor of the month of MaeMae you can get your own tailored version of Oswald for 20%! All collection orders will receive this discount through May 31. Contact us today!

It’s the month of Mae! To celebrate, we’re offering 20% off our wedding collection suites, including anything with watercolor – because let’s be honest, we have a serious crush on watercolor.

Don’t believe us, take a look at our instagram feed, there’s watercolor here, here, here, and here and here, and here…oh and here and here too). AND, we’re keeping the good times rolling by releasing a watercolor-themed collection suite this summer. Stay tuned :)

If you’re on the watercolor train too and happen to be planning a wedding, contact us for details on on our month of Mae discount, we can’t wait to break out our paint brushes!

**The calligraphy above is by the very talented (and MaeMae favorite) Betsy Dunlap, it really adds such a special touch to this suite.

Here’s a peek at some fun custom illustrations Team MaeMae created for an online, infographic-style save the date. We discussed our design process for this project over on the Appy Couple blog last week where they named this save the date the “custom app design of the month.” Thanks so much Appy Couple!

P.S. Here’s an outtake we shared a while back from the same save the date!

…Myndi! Myndi’s entry: “I adore her calligraphy style! I am just learning calligraphy and this book would be the perfect guide as I begin! Thanks for such a great giveaway!”

Thank you, Myndi! Please email your shipping information to info@maemaepaperie.com. And thank you to everyone else who entered, we love hosting giveaways for products we find inspiring, and absolutely love that you all find them inspiring too!

Just dropping in to share some recent work now that we’re entering wedding season! The suite above is a custom design with a super fun mix of modern and vintage details (and a fold-out map!). While the pieces below are based on our Marlowe suite from the MaeMae collection. LOVE the camp vibe and map liner (are you seeing a theme here?)….oh, and can’t forget the rose gold. So. Good.

Consider yourself a calligrapher (or wannabe calligrapher)? Then today’s giveaway is right up your alley! The winner will receive a copy of Molly Suber Thorpe’s (of Plurabelle Calligraphy) new Modern Calligraphy! This book is chock full of step-by-step instructions, templates, inspiration and even advanced projects for when you want to take your lettering to the next level.

Molly is an award-wining designer and calligrapher known for her contemporary hand lettering styles and unique, non-traditional letterforms. She loves working with her clients to get their custom lettering just right and considers the thrill of helping other’s visions come to life as one of the most rewarding feelings in the world (umm, we couldn’t agree more!).

We asked Molly what she would be if she wasn’t a calligrapher: “It’s funny because until a couple years ago I would have said author. Creative writing always has been one of my primary passions, and I pursued it quite seriously for many years. Now, I am an author, albeit of non-fiction, so I feel like two of my dreams have come true!”

Enter to win Modern Calligraphy by commenting below and sharing how you would use your new calligraphy skills (ex: for my nephew’s birthday invitations, just for fun, etc). One winner will be chosen randomly and announced on the blog Friday, April 18. U.S. entries only.

While you’re waiting to see if you’ve won, hop over to the Plurabelle blog and shop – so much gorgeous lettering inspiration! AND if her book isn’t enough, Molly also has an amazing skillshare class available that shows how to make and digitize a logo in calligraphy.

Thank you, Molly!

Last summer, Sarah Reeves, a realtor with Long and Foster in Richmond, Virginia approached us looking for refreshed branding for her business. Prior to selling real estate, Sarah worked on the interior of homes as a designer. Armed with a creative’s vocabulary, she approached us with so many great graphic ideas infused with a really cool collision of styles. We drew inspiration from Sarah’s love of retro Palm Beach, all things preppy, the occasional bridge game, and chinoiserie chic. We wanted to infuse Sarah’s brand with her energetic and and bright personality that reflect the personalized service and attention she gives her clients. We had such a wonderful time working with Sarah and creating a variety of unique pieces that will now help her stand out in the often over-saturated world of real estate.

We’re so excited to introduce you to the newly redesigned BrideClick. BrideClick, the first and largest digital advertising platform in the bridal industry, came to us for a complete website overhaul. The company works with hundreds of bridal websites and publishers in building the advertising partnerships that make up the virtual wedding landscape as you know it. We jumped at the opportunity to dip our toes (or completely submerge ourselves) into a project with a more corporate appeal. BrideClick liked their existing logo, but wanted to improve the look and functionality of their site. They wanted something both bridal and tech-forward that spoke to publishers and advertisers alike. We achieved this with a combination of clean, bold typography, a modern color palette, tech-savvy info-graphics and hyper-stylized photography*. These elements were then designed into a streamlined and extremely user-friendly site. Through detail-minded concept development, we were able to breath a new ultra-feminine and sophisticated life into BrideClick’s visual identity.

*We’re especially pleased to present this example of one of the newest offerings from team MaeMae—photo styling. BrideClick is an awesome example of styled photography as a design element. It can play such a huge role in the visual branding of your company and we’re happy to offer styling services to all our clients. Wing Ta of Canary Grey shot these photos, making them extra amazing!
