This week’s Mood + Method is for what we’ve entitled a “luxury dude ranch” wedding in Colorado this coming summer. The wedding stationery suite will be layered and textured with gold rush inspired elements and sepia watercolor. Um yeah. Pretty cool. The save the dates are at the printer and here is a little snippet from the watercolor process.Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Something we love here at MaeMae & Co. is a fresh color combo. It’s always fun to see how dramatic the result can be when changing up the color palette of one of our collection characters. Here’s a favorite example from 2014.

Allie + Bobby’s taupe, citron and leaf green palette is a gorgeous and sophisticated take on our tropical gal, Roxy. She went from coconut bra to country chic with a simple swap of hues and we’re still swooning over this one at the studio.

Interested in seeing your wedding colors on one of our collection characters? We are too! Get in touch today and we’d love to discuss.

Beverly_mood_boardMeet our new character, Beverly. If you can’t track her down in South Beach, then it’s likely she’s flown off to Saint Tropez with her gal-pal Bette…again. She’s just fabulous like that. The perfect balance of elegance and flare, Beverly is your go-to gal for exuberant luxury. Her affinity for bold, deco-inspired patterns and timeless type pairings set the perfect stage for a glamorous affair celebrating the couple who know how to have a grand, old time.

Beverly is a jet-setter, with an affinity for the exotic and we think she’s be perfect for a tropical destination wedding. We’d love to see a client customize this suite—here’s a few ways we think it would be fabulous:

1) A jade and taupe palette

2) Turquoise engraving…on everything! (a la Dorthy Draper)

3) Go old-school and try platinum foil on rich, chocolate paper

Collaborating with Brianna, Buzz, and the fab BEAU AND ARROW ladies was such a treat. We started with the MAXIMUS SUITE we created for Martha Stewart Weddings and then added in some personalized details. The theme for B&B’s wedding was Wes Anderson in the Desert Wearing Missoni. I mean. Enough said. (check instagram for Beau and Arrow’s hashtags on that…) For the save the date we created a BACK TO SCHOOL VIBE and then carried some of those illustrations into their suite. (see a full photo of the save the date in THIS POST) All of the guest envelopes were addressed with a typewriter to keep it authentic throw back.

We also made these AMAZING HOTEL KEYS FOR ESCORT CARDS in a variety of colors (see more COLORS HERE). All of the SIGNAGE was displayed at the wedding in these amazing layered frames over marbled paper. All of the guests were treated in their hotel rooms to these custom wrapped Mast Bro chocolate bars. It was very difficult to make it through the WRAPPING PROCESS without digging into them… To stay cool at the Palm Springs celebration the programs were made into handy little fans.

Thank you, Buzz and Brianna, for being the coolest clients. Wishing you both lots of love!!

**The calligraphy above is by the very talented (and MaeMae favorite) Betsy Dunlap, it really adds such a special touch to this suite.

Teaming up with New Hampshire-based letterpress studio, Gus & Ruby  (one of our 30 retailers around the country) is always a treat, and this project was no exception! The bride and groom, Ashlee and Sean wanted a sophisticated suite that was also appropriate for a destination wedding – enter our Roxy suite! We amped up Roxy’s tropical vibe with punchy lime and peach tones, while the full-color letterpress adds a luxe touch. Now excuse us as we go Google images of San Juan and pretend it’s warmer than 11 degrees in Minnesota.

This farm-inspired custom wedding stationery was designed for the special, “Sweet Corn Sweethearts” feature in Southern Weddings‘ sixth issue. The editorial had a really fun story, according to Southern Weddings:

“A bride who grew up on a dairy farm and returned with her beau for an intimate family wedding in the field. Mamas and grandmas and little nieces helped prepare all of the food, including shucking corn and baking classic Southern cakes. We wanted to capture some of these preparatory moments in the shoot, too!”

How beautiful is that church, and that farm?!?!  Be sure to check out Southern Weddings for the scoop on all the talented vendors involved in this shoot. And don’t miss the behind-the-scenes look at the feature, along with this amazing video shot by Twenty-One Films.

We’re pretty excited about the arrival of fall at MaeMae headquarters. While summer is beautiful in Minnesota, fall is pretty special as well. From pulling out chunky knit sweaters and leather boots to visiting apple orchards and consuming pumpkin EVERYTHING, there’s so much to look forward to – including Style Architects’ Fall Trend Report!

For those not familiar, Style Architects is a Minneapolis-based creative services company that specializes in event planning and styling. And they’re one of our main go-to’s for on-trend style, interiors…and well, everything. This year, MaeMae was fortunate to get in on the fun and had a custom invitation featured in the Fall Trends Report! Christina Holm-Sandock, president and creative director of Style Architects, included Summer Watkins’ engagement party invitation as one of her favorite autumn finds and we couldn’t be more flattered! And because we wanted to keep the good fall vibes rolling, we also pulled together an outfit that’s perfect for an autumn engagement party – so fun!

Your turn, what’s your favorite part of fall?
